Older Persons Ministry

I’m here to support and strengthen older persons ministries across the diocese, working with people aged 50 and over. I believe churches must create space for people to share life together. Through growing our rest home chaplaincy, mentoring and training volunteer chaplains, and connecting with those working in elder care, my hope is to ensure older people are heard, valued and pastorally supported.

How can I help?

How can We help?

Older persons ministry support. I work alongside parishes across the diocese to develop and strengthen ministries with people aged 50 and over, offering guidance and practical support. Check with your local parish to see what ministries, services or pastoral support they have available, or get in touch with me.

Nelson Tasman Rest Home Chaplaincy. I lead and coordinate our interdenominational rest home chaplaincy, supporting trained volunteer chaplains who serve older people through presence and pastoral care.

Partnerships and community connections. I build and maintain relationships with aged-care homes, community organisations and social support services, helping churches engage meaningfully in local senior care.

Volunteers and training. I organise training opportunities, to equip those involved in older persons ministry across the diocese. I support volunteers passionate about this ministry, ensuring appropriate training and compliance are in place.
