Motueka Parish seeks to be a joyful, intergenerational community where people of all ages are welcomed, inspired to grow in faith, and empowered by the Holy Spirit to share the Good News through their unique gifts and passions.

Our three Mission Priorities are:

1. Mission & Outreach: Boldly step into the community with creative gospel expression.
2. Community & Care: Build authentic community that is good for families to belong to.
3. Discipleship & Spiritual Growth: Deepen biblical teaching and spiritual formation.

Our church family looks for a vicar with the following qualities

• Collaborative Team Leader: A vicar who leads with the vestry and ministry team to foster shared vision, a culture of co-leadership, mutual trust and to be able to resolve conflict.
• Clear Gospel Communicator: A preacher whose messages are concise, relevant, and easy to grasp – encouraging others to grow in faith and mission.
• Developer of Ministry Teams: Someone who identifies, equips, and releases people to lead worship and preach, building a strong, lay-empowered ministry.
• Mentor and Disciple-maker: A vicar who walks with others in faith, coaching and encouraging them to grow as disciples and leaders.

We are ready to move to the next level, and we are hoping our next Vicar can make a long-term investment in achieving this vision with us. The Parish Centre and vicarage at St Thomas is at the heart of the town and the parish.

The Parish Region

Motueka Anglican Parish spans a diverse region that blends rural charm with small-town vitality. Centred in the town of Motueka, the parish extends to the surrounding communities of Riwaka and Ngatimoti, encompassing orchards, hop farms, national parks, and coastal settlements. The area is known for its natural beauty, cultural diversity, and strong community spirit.
