The Anglican Diocese of Nelson is seeking a Ministry Coordinator – Social Services to join the Bishop’s Ministry Team. This is a unique opportunity to lead, inspire, and support parish-based social services that reach the lost, last, and least in our mission field.
About the Role
As Ministry Coordinator – Social Services, you will:
- Lead strategic planning for social services across the diocese, aligning with our vision to cultivate vibrant communities of faith that radiate the Good News of Jesus Christ.
- Work at the interface of parish ministry and community need, enhancing our capacity to partner with others and deliver impactful social services.
- Support the Anglican Care Committee by developing funding priorities, reporting on progress, and coordinating training for social service ministries.
- Empower parishes to understand their community context, access funding, and develop pathways from social service to discipleship.
- Build partnerships with government, NGOs, and community agencies to advocate for key social issues and shared outcomes.
- Foster leadership by equipping and networking leaders in social services ministry across the diocese.
- Champion diocesan FAITH values: Family (Whanaungatanga), Adventure (Mātātoa), Innovation (Akoranga), Truth (Whakapono), and Hospitality (Manaakitanga).
What We’re Looking For
- Tertiary qualification in Health or Social Services, or significant experience in social service/social justice projects.
- Sound understanding of Christian theology as it applies to social services, especially in transforming unjust structures.
- Experience working with volunteers and diverse communities.
- Excellent communication, networking, and leadership skills.
- A collaborative, can-do attitude and a Christ-centered approach to ministry.
- Full driver’s license and willingness to travel across the diocese.
